Navigating the Virtual Realm: A Seamless CLT

The Challenge

Our client sought to conduct a central location test (CLT), featuring a virtual reality (VR) shopping experience with participants using VR headsets. We needed to provide a spacious and comfortable environment for participant navigation and post-shop in-depth interviews (IDIs), ensure a strong Wi-Fi connection for seamless VR program support, and allocate space for client observation. The objective was to create an efficient testing environment that met the specific requirements of our client’s innovative research initiative.

The Solution

We optimised our flexible facility by clearing out two rooms, ensuring ample space for participants to navigate safely. Each room accommodated one participant per appointment time, ensuring focused attention. We reserved the Wi-Fi network exclusively for the study, eliminating unnecessary devices and reallocating non-fieldwork staff to work remotely. This strategic move maximized bandwidth for seamless VR shopping and real-world interviewing experiences. Both environments were streamed live into the client viewing room, providing a streamlined and immersive observation process.

The Result

The moderators successfully facilitated participants within a secure and comfortable environment, ensuring a smooth shopper program and uninterrupted interviewing process. Simultaneously, clients had the opportunity to observe the participant shopping experience and post-shop interview in real-time, enhancing their engagement and understanding of the research dynamics.
