We’re excited to officially unveil the newly refurbished Sense:lab facility in Leeds — with upgraded spaces, new technology and a brand-new dedicated kitchen built specifically to support food studies.

This is more than a refresh. We’ve redesigned key areas of the facility to give research teams greater flexibility and create a better experience for clients, researchers and participants.

A dedicated kitchen built for food studies

One of the biggest additions is our new specialist food studies kitchen, designed to support research from product preparation through to testing.

The new space includes:

  • Four ovens for flexible product preparation

  • Eight-ring hob and extraction system for cooking-based studies

  • Two 740L fridges and two 740L freezers for high-capacity product storage

  • Fast-cycle dishwasher and sink for efficient study turnaround

  • Generous preparation and storage space to support larger studies

  • Stainless steel worktops for a robust, hygienic working environment

  • Dedicated appliance points for microwaves, air fryers, toasters and other equipment

Whether you’re testing a new product, exploring preparation methods or running a larger-scale food study, the new kitchen gives projects the dedicated space and flexibility they need.

More space. More flexibility.

The facility now includes a new room with 12 dedicated open testing booths, increasing our capacity for sensory research and giving projects more flexibility when it comes to participant testing.

We’ve also transformed our existing research spaces to make them more adaptable to different study requirements. The Box can now be used as either a breakout space or live viewing room, giving teams the flexibility to use the room differently depending on the project.

Meanwhile, The Studio has received an AV upgrade, making it even more versatile for research sessions, presentations and live viewing. Together, these improvements give researchers more options to configure the facility around the needs of each project, rather than working within a one-size-fits-all setup.

Designed around the research experience

The upgrades continue throughout the facility, from a completely refreshed reception area and new flooring and carpets to additional office space that allows our team to work closely alongside live facility testing.

We’ve also added secure, camera-monitored storage for high-value products and equipment, helping us maintain the security and control that research projects demand.

From food studies and sensory testing to qualitative research, live viewing and product handling, our newly refurbished facility has been designed to support a wider range of projects, with greater flexibility and functionality.
