The Challenge
A global home and hygiene brand wanted to test whether adding a built-in fan to their plug-in air freshener would significantly enhance fragrance diffusion and overall user experience.
The Solution
We ran a 4-week home usage test with 43 households in Leeds and Hull, where participants compared the current device with the fan prototype. Feedback was captured through timed surveys and in-depth interviews, providing both quantitative performance data and deeper insight into consumer behaviours and perceptions.
The Result
The research equipped the client with clear evidence on the prototype’s strengths and weaknesses. While consumer reactions were mixed, the findings pinpointed the features that added value and those needing refinement, enabling the R&D team to focus development efforts, reduce risk, and move forward with greater confidence toward a consumer-ready launch.
